Night shift

Every Sell Fries anomaly — and the one action that beats it

The shop runs from 8:00 AM, night starts at 8:00 PM and the sun is back at 8:00 AM. Between those hours 6 things can go wrong, and each one has a single correct reaction. Learn the tell, not the panic: the game tells you what is happening, it just does not wait for you.

"Unconfirmed" means guides describe real damage but never show a death. No guide has published a full list of anomalies, so treat this table as the documented set rather than a complete spawn list. A Cross saves you from one death.

Detail

One entry per threat

Window anomaly

Any time, most often at night
Tell
A driver at the drive-thru with a backwards head, a zombie face, or a flat dark figure where a customer should be. The game prompts you to close the shutter.
Threat
Serving it does not hurt you on the spot, which is the trap: guides disagree on whether it causes trouble later in the run or attacks the kitchen once it is inside.
Counter
Hit the shutter control left of the window and wait for it to drive off before reopening. A loaded Fry Shooter is reported to drive it off without you closing the shutter.

The chase outside ("RUN INSIDE!")

Night, when you are outdoors
Tell
The screen darkens and glitches into static the longer you stay outside, and a shadowy figure closes on you while the game prints "RUN INSIDE!".
Threat
It reaches you if you keep hauling potatoes. Caught in the open it can end the run.
Counter
Get back inside immediately and stay away from the doors for a few seconds. Long term: let robots haul potatoes at night so you never need to be out there.

Tell
A monster is sitting on your potatoes — on the conveyor or the pile — eating your stock.
Threat
It empties the stock you need for sales, and it does it while you are running the kitchen.
Counter
Get to it fast and use the interact input until you scare it away, then get back inside.

The Giant

Hard Mode, reported from night 2
Tell
The game prints "THE GIANT!" and a huge red-eyed figure appears on the buildings across the street. Red circles mark the ground where its beam will land.
Threat
A beam from its eyes hits hard and reportedly knocks players out; standing in a marked circle is how players get downed outside.
Counter
Stay inside — it ignores players in the shop and leaves at morning. If you are caught outside, run out of the red circles and use the cooldown between beams to finish your business.

Power cut

Day or night
Tell
Everything goes dark and the game tells you to fix the power box outside the shop.
Threat
You lose the lights and the kitchen stops being safe to run blind, while the box is outside where the night threats are.
Counter
Run out, match the wire colours on the fuse box until the lights come back, then get back inside. Do it during a quiet moment rather than mid-anomaly.

Stuck robot

Day or night
Tell
A warning says one of your helper robots is stuck and has stopped moving.
Threat
Your automation stops feeding the line, which is exactly what you paid the robots to prevent.
Counter
Walk to the robot and interact to free it. Fix it in daylight; at night the trip outside is the real risk, not the robot.

Timeline

How a night actually runs

Timeline of a Sell Fries day: shop opens at 8:00 AM, night starts at 8:00 PM and sunrise returns at 8:00 AM, with what to do in each window
The safe window and the dangerous window, with what to do before 8:00 PM, during the night and at sunrise.
  1. 8:00 AM

    Shop opens

Surviving a night gives you a perk choice in the morning. Take it before you start hauling.

  2. 8:00 PM

    Night falls

Stop going outside. If you are out when the screen darkens, you are already in the chase.

  3. 8:00 AM

    Sunrise

The anomalies leave. Count what you lost, re-buy what you need and use the daylight.

Shutter control: A red/orange control sits immediately left of the service window. When the game prints "Close the shutter!" you have seconds, not minutes, to hit it.

Checklist

Night survival, in order

  • Be inside before 8:00 PM with the shutter reachable.
  • Keep a Cross in your inventory for the late nights.
  • Let robots move the pile after dark instead of walking out yourself.
  • Look at the driver before you serve. Backwards head, zombie face, flat silhouette — close the shutter.
  • If the screen darkens while you are outside, drop what you are doing and run in.
  • Deal with the potato eater immediately; it eats the stock you need for tomorrow.
  • Do not chase the Giant. Stay inside until morning.
  • Fix the power box and the stuck robot in daylight, not mid-anomaly.

Perks

The morning reward

Every morning you survive, the game offers a free perk from a rotating pool of upgrades — plus a cursed option that pays more and costs you something.

  • Bigger bag or a faster haul — more potatoes per trip.
  • Growing cash or a robot boost — the same automation pays more.
  • Walk faster or a night bonus — survivability instead of income.
  • A cursed perk — bigger numbers with a real cost attached.

Where the guides disagree

  • Whether the window anomaly and the shutter crawler are one entity or two: guides split them differently, so this site treats them as one entry.
